Big Brother to Be!

I remember the best advice I received when my oldest was born.  “Cherish him while he is young, they grow so fast!” Wow little did I know how quickly they grow!  My oldest is now pushing 22 and my 2nd just turned 17!!! Where did that time go???

Recently, I had a mom come in for a session – she was due real soon, but she also had\s a 5 year old son.  In those moments, we wanted to be sure to capture her son, in his final moments as an only child.  Never again will his life be just that!  Sure, he will have special moments with his parents just one on one, but from now on he will always be “the big brother” – which by the way, I’m sure he will be fantastic at!

For this little man, I wanted to capture his personality.  Of course we captured some family moments, special moments – but  I wanted to capture that big personality – so when he gets older- mom will remember her first born the way he is now- so full of life.

I captured a series of him – how fantastic would it look as a big collage on their wall.  He would see how important he is in their life – images of just him large on the wall.  How amazing for his self-esteem.   How amazing for those days he might feel his baby sister is getting more attention.

For those days long gone, I wish I had done something like this for my own children.  I guess you learn as you grow – how quick those moments pass – don’t let those moments pass for you!
